Drought-tolerant and heat-loving, it thrives in well-drained soils and full sun. Widely used for native, xeriscape, and pollinator-friendly gardens; also valued for its traditional medicinal and ceremonial uses.

We have often used it in combination with succulents like Senecio ‘Blue Chalk Sticks’, Agave americana and hardy grasses like Stipa Beth Chatto.
